Three ingredients, a shaker, and your favorite jam flavor. That is all that is needed for the sweet and effortless, Gin and Jam cocktail. The hit gin drink is so versatile, it can be completely remade to fit any season. Made with jams featuring seasonal fruits like citrus for winter, berries for summer, and unique flavors like rhubarb and figs for fall and spring. When it comes to this gin cocktail the choices are endless and the flavors are countless.
An ultimate choose-your-own-cocktail, the Jam and Gin drink allows you to pick your flavor, level of sweetness, color of cocktail, and make of both spirit and jam. We must say, the better the jam, the better the cocktail. If home made is available, it is highly suggested. In this recipe you will find three simple ingredients. Gin, our beloved, jam, whichever suits your pallet, and lemon juice, the always trusted citrus to bring it all together into harmonizing balance. Featured here, strawberry preserve.
To note, although this recipe calls for any flavor jam or fruit preserve, avoid using fruit butters as they tend to be too loose and will alter the cocktail’s consistency. Select a preferred jam, jelly, and preserve as alternates. Only have a bit of jam left? Don’t feel like making dished dirty? Simply add the gin, lemon juice, jam, and ice into an almost finished jam jar and shake well. Consistency will remain as smooth as if it was made in a shaker. Although a glass is still needed in order to strain the drink from the ice.
